Byumba Agricultural Development Project - Phase I

The project was built around increasing food cropping and livestock breeding, protecting the environment and improving living conditions for beneficiaries. The first phase had a positive impact: beneficiary incomes rose by 85 per cent in high-altitude and 20 per cent in medium-altitude areas, and yields of potatoes, sweet potatoes, wheat, maize, beans, peas and sorghum increased by up to 50 per cent

Phase II consolidated achievements under the first phase and expanded activities to other communes in Byumba Prefecture.
