Project for the Capitalization of Small Farmers in the Tropisec Area of the Segovias – Region I (TROPISEC)

The project helped about 7,000 poor rural households recover from the economic and environmental effects of civil strife in the dry tropical area of Las Segovias.

Participating families received credit, technical assistance, training and investments for water conservation and natural resources management.

Specifically, the project promoted specific arid area technologies in irrigation and in storage, use and management of water. It also supported farmers development funds, to develop sustainable rural financial services.
