Rural Development Project in the Mountain Zones of Al Haouz Province

The project’s overall objective is to contribute to the social and economic development of poor people in the mountainous zones of Al Haouz province. Specifically, the aim is to increase their income and diversify their sources of income with the overall objective of  improving their living conditions and promoting sustainable natural resource management.

Specific objectives include:

    • strengthening participation by local organizations in project implementation, particularly among the poorest households, women and young people
    • improving farm and livestock production and adding value to products
    • increasing and diversifying farm and off-farm income through income-generating activities, particularly for women and young people
    • helping the poorest rural communities gain access to basic social and financial services
    • restoring, protecting and managing natural resources in a sustainable way
