Agricultural Development Programme for the Western Region (PLANDERO)

This project built on the experiences of PRODERO, reinforcing the aim of improving productivity through technical changes and extending activities to the western region of the country. The project achieved the following results:

  • 731 microentrepreneurs and 9,773 small producers (32 per cent of them women) received technical assistance. This was twice as many as originally planned
  • financing was made available to 4,000 families without access to formal credit
  • 15 private suppliers were formed to help increase the supply of technical assistance services

The project also supported reforestation, raising of small animals and other productive activities normally carried out by women, to lighten their workload.
