Consolidation and Development of Rural Settlement Project

The project had the objective of improving the social and economic conditions of poor farming households in about 30 settlements in Azua province in the south-west. The aim was to provide rural people with the infrastructure and services they needed to develop their activities and improve their living conditions.

To create new settlements and improve living conditions in existing ones, project activities included construction and rehabilitation of roads and irrigation and drainage systems, construction of new dwellings, renovation of existing housing, construction of elementary schools and community centres, and purchase of farm machinery and tools.
