Support to Agricultural Development and Marketing Project

This five-year project targets the regions of Savanes, Bandama Valley and Zanzan. It will support more sustainable rural development in the context of a post-crisis environment, in line with Côte d’Ivoire’s poverty-reduction strategy and agricultural investment plan.

To improve food security and household incomes in the target regions, the project will enhance farm production by easing small producers’ access to:

  • improved seeds and fertilizers
  • mechanized tillage and harvesting
  • agricultural advisory services.

The project will also support local processing of agricultural produce through improved infrastructure and marketing, as well as training and empowerment of smallholders’ organizations. Its overall approach is to help smallholders move towards profitable, market-influenced farming in which the market determines the investment strategy and production choices of farmers and their organizations.
