Rural Services Project (PASR)

This project had the objective of strengthening and rationalizing the structure and organization of the Federal Rural Development Support Centre (CEFADER) and the Rural Development Support Centres (CADERs) to make them work more effectively both as extension networks and as rural services.

In addition, the project provided the following services:

  • introduction of improved varieties of food crops and soil conservation techniques
  • genetic improvements and services connected with livestock farming
  • measures for forest conservation, erosion control and soil fertility improvement

The project’s impact was very limited, but the experience derived from it with regard to soil conservation and protection contributed to the success of the Nioumakélé Small Producers Support Project (APPN).
