Second Western Province Rural Development Project

The main objectives of the project were to:

  • improve food crop production
  • improve the quality of crops, especially coffee
  • consolidate training and extension services
  • improve the services of cooperatives to benefit farmers
  • reorganize coffee factory processing and marketing and the operations and financial controls of the UCCAO

Many difficulties hindered the execution of the project, and its impact was modest. Food crop production increased, but the quality of coffee improved only slightly.
