IFAD partners in Rwanda
Through its field presence, IFAD is actively participating in two major aid coordination and harmonization mechanisms in the country: the Rural Development Cluster, and the Development Partners' Coordination Group (DPCG). IFAD is also involved in all policy dialogue fora with the United National Country Team (UNCT) and various working groups for the One UN initiative in Rwanda. During the process of designing the country strategic opportunities programme, IFAD forged partnerships with the Belgian Technical Cooperation for proximity services to the rural poor, with the World Food Programme (WFP) for food-for-work projects, with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and with the African Development Bank and the World Bank for water and soil conservation and hillside irrigation. It also works in partnership with farmers’ apex organizations, focusing on representation, and with microfinance institutions, focusing on improved access to agricultural credit for small farmers. Recipients of IFAD grants are valued IFAD partners in the country. They include SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), non-governmental organizations providing a wide range of technical and advisory services, and the private sector.
