IFAD partners in the Kyrgyz Republic
The World Bank, which finances projects through the International Development Association, is IFAD’s main partner in agricultural development in the Kyrgyz Republic. IFAD has cofinanced two projects initiated by the World Bank, providing funds for livestock development and agricultural support services. IFAD also works in partnership in the country with the Swiss Development Corporation (SDC), the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and other donors. In the Agricultural Support Services Project, IFAD is an active partner of KAFC and UNDP in microfinance initiatives to improve poor rural people’s access to credit and other financial services. IFAD works closely with GTZ to support the formation and development of grass-roots cooperatives.
In an ongoing partnership with other donors, IFAD supports efforts to combat desertification in the Kyrgyz Republic and other Central Asian republics through the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
