Community-based Resettlement Approaches and Technologies Project

The project was designed to support the government’s national resettlement programme and ensure that it was equitable and economically viable and led by participating communities. It helped create more appropriate and efficient patterns of resource ownership and management, in order to establish more sustainable rural livelihoods for large numbers of poor families. Specifically, it established best practices of resettlement processes through regular contact among the government, NGOs and donors. It organized workshops to disseminate a better understanding of practical aspects of community mobilization, training and leadership in the organization and management of resettlement schemes. Ten pilot resettlement schemes were the focus of project activities.
